Every week we come across new artists who strive to one day see their name in lights and at the top of the charts! This week Prabus and Ebrahim make our list of New Kids on the Block. Check out their music here and let us know whose vibe you're feeling.

What sets you apart on the Bhangra scene?
My sound is what differentiates me within the industry. I've spent the last 10 years learning how to play a number of instruments as well as building my own studio and teaching myself the ins and outs of music production. My main focus has been on quality rather than quantity and this is evident on both my debut single and forthcoming album.

Tell us about "Akh De Pateya Nu."
When I first started out as a producer I had no links or contacts within the industry. I had created some amazing beats for which I needed vocalists. I managed to come across a guy through a social networking site who managed some vocalists in India who needed a big break, I was more than happy to give them that break. The vocalist on my track is Major Chanalia and although he has done a small number of songs for other artists in the U.K., he hasn't had the recognition that he deserves. "Akh De Pateya Nu" is one of his own personal favorites and I'm really happy to have him feature on the track.

What are your future plans?
The full video for "Akh De Pateya Nu" will be coming in the next few weeks. I've got another two singles lined up which again showcase my love for traditional Desi music. The album titled My Sound My Way will be released later this year.
Ebrahim

What sets you apart on the music scene?
As far as standing out or setting myself apart from the rest of the pack, I don't really feel that I'm doing anything out of the ordinary or ground breaking. I'm just a regular dude, who studies, works hard and happens to be a huge fan of music. I've always considered myself a fan before an artist. I think before you can become great at something, you have to truly understand and appreciate it first. I've been at this for over 10 years now, so I think I've done my homework, but even still, I have a lot to learn.

Tell us about "MarleyLa."
My YouTube videos spawned out of boredom. I was working on my follow up album and while recording it, I'd find other ways to entertain myself. It started with the Britney Spears loop thing, then the D'angelo/Lupe tune and then the Marley cover. I didn't sit there over-thinking it. Just whatever came out, came out.

What are your future plans?
I'm releasing my second album this fall. My first record, Goldrush, did pretty well, considering I never really toured or marketed it (15,000 units sold). Prior to the release of my second album I'm dropping a five-song EP which is along the same lines as my YouTube videos, just more produced and is also original material. Myself and Jay Sean have been brain storming on a few ideas the past couple months. I've also been fortunate enough to work with Kanye's team and will be working with Melanie Fiona later this summer. Busy year, but I wouldn't want it any other way!

This weekend the Soho Road:  Five Rivers to Five Boroughs exhibit set foot in New York City. The exhibit will be showcased at 92YTribeca for a few weeks; the exhibit's launch was celebrated by a panel discussion, reception, as well as a performance by Shin of DCS - and DH! was there to catch it all!

The panel discussion included author Rajinder Durdrah, Bhangra artist Shin, DJs Rekha and Boy Chana, educator Nina Chanpreet Singh, and producer Erica Rubin. The discussion was led by Rajinder who reminded us all of how influential each of the panelists has been on the Bhangra scene.

The conversation covered vast topics and presented many points of view. Shin spoke very openly about the decline in live bands on the Bhangra scene. He jokingly said, "...then came the Bally Sagoo's..." referring to all the new age producers who began sampling music. Shin also accredits the decline in live bands to the increasing use of sophisticated technology.

DJ Rekha respectfully answered as an event coordinator, saying a live band requires money because bands have up to 10 people. There are also issues with traveling restrictions and immigration barriers. Another point made by DJ Rekha was the lack of raw talent here in the United States.

Nina Singh talked about Bhangra as a male dominated industry, whether in music or dance. DJ Rekha countered, "Look at me!" as she is a woman who has made quite a name for herself. But DJ Rekha also agreed and said, "yes there are the issues of gender roles, but that's life and we just have to deal with." Boy Chana shared some great stories as to what he has seen and experienced through his career, including how he started with a pirated radio show and ventured into journalism.

The night ended with some Bhangra! Shin took to the stage and proved that he is a rockstar. Dressed in a red sherwani and accompanied by a dhol player, Shin wowed everyone who was proud of the strides Bhangra has made as a culture! Are you interested in catching this exhibit?

Chan Has is approaching the release of his single "Galeh Lagja." To get fans hyped about his sophomore release, Chan Has takes us behind the scenes of his video shoot!

Chan Has first breaks down all the elements of the video shoot, including dancers, choreography, hair, make-up, and of course the extensive crew. Chan sports some impressive digs coordinated with shades and lids.

Comparing this shoot to the one for his debut single "Chori Chori," Chan Has says, "this one is crazy, harder than "Chori Chori." "Chori Chori" was a lot more acting and freestyling. This is a big one man with lots of choreography and timing, it might seem easy...it's pretty mad...gotta be done!"

Check out this behind-the-scenes footage from the set of Chan Has's "Galeh Lagja" video shoot. Do you think this clip will be hot or not?

Urban Desi artist The PropheC released the video for his debut single "Sohni" featuring Deep C.
"Seeing the tremendous response the song got last year, we knew that "Sohni" had to have a music video. I have never been able to emulate the feeling I had when I made "Sohni." It's a very special song for me," The PropheC explained in a press release.
The song is catchy and we like The PropheC's choice to stay away from a loud dance song, which separates him from other artists on the scene. With a great producer comes a simple video concept as we see The PropheC following his leading lady in hopes of wooing her.
Check out the video for "Sohni" and let us know if The PropheC stands out from the masses or gets lost in the crowd.
